Ahemm… naturalisto

Its amazing experience to watch wild life. I do it in two ways. Watching the discovery,Animal Planet channels and another to observe them in their habitat. Recently I came across an episode showing how birds in the wild raise their young ones. From courtship ,birth , parenting to independence. .. the complete cycle. I wonder what is it that make them do what they do. There was a falcon that built its nest using twigs or anything it found to be worthwhile to build a nest with and on a tree. Why did it “think” of building a nest? How did it figure out the exact way to build a nest ? One explanation that came to my mind was mating season and it had to court a female. Its like how you feel when you want to woo a pretty girl. First try and get her attention and then try to show her that you are smart and thoughtful. So the male bird goes and finds its mate ( generally a female ;-)) and shows off. If the female ‘falls’ for it and she lets him do the honky ponky dance and thingie and there you go …. lays the egg. Now there _has_ to be a safe place to lay the eggs. So one of things that the female expects from the male is …what else .. a nest. I guess somehow the male figured this out about females .. like we do as part of our evolution from boys to men and built the nest. This could also be probably by watching others or may be through something hardwired into their brain.
